Data Protection Declaration

Scope of application

This Data Protection Declaration provides clarification for users about the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the responsible provider (Evangelische Mission in Solidarität e.V. (EMS), Vogelsangstrasse 62, D-70197 Stuttgart, info@dont-want-spam.ems-online.org, +49 (0)711 63678-0) on this website (hereinafter called "site").

The basic legal data protection principles are set out in the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

Access data/server log files

The provider (or his web space provider) collects data every time the site is accessed (so-called server log files). These access data include:

Name of the accessed website, file, date and time of access, volume of data transferred, message concerning successful access, browser type and version, user's operating system, the referring URL (the previous page visited), IP address and the requesting provider.

The provider uses the protocol data for statistical evaluations only for the purpose of operating, securing and optimising the site. However, the provider reserves the right to examine the protocol data afterwards if there are specific reasons to suspect illegal use.

Handling of personal data

Personal data are information which can be used to determine the identity of a person, i.e. details which can be traced to a specific person. These data include the name, e-mail address or telephone number. However, personal data also include data relating to preferences, hobbies, memberships or the websites the person has viewed.

Personal data are only collected, used and passed on by the provider if this is legally permitted or the users agree to the collection of their data.

Making contact

When users make contact with the provider (for example using a contact form or by e-mail), their data are stored for the purpose of processing the query and in case any subsequent questions arise.

Integration of third-party services and content

It is possible that content from third parties, for example YouTube videos, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites, are integrated in this website. This always means that the providers of this content (hereinafter called "third-party providers") make use of the users' IP address. Because without the IP address they would not be able to send the content to the browser of the particular user. The IP address is required to provide this content. We endeavour only to use that content where the particular providers use the IP address solely for the purpose of supplying the content. However, we have no influence over whether the third-party providers store the IP address, for example for statistical purposes. If we become aware of this, we will inform users accordingly.

Cookies

Cookies are small files which enable certain device-specific information to be stored on the users' access devices (PC, smartphone, etc.). They are used firstly to make websites user-friendly, i.e. assist users (e.g. storing login data). Secondly, cookies are used to collate statistical data on the use of the website and analyse these data in order to improve the site. Users can influence the use of cookies. The majority of browsers contain an option with which you can restrict the storage of cookies or prevent it completely. However, we wish to point out that the use of cookies and, in particular, the ease of use are restricted without cookies.

You can manage many online advertisement cookies from companies via the American website http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.

Piwik

This site uses Piwik, an open source software, for statistical evaluation of user access. Piwik uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie concerning use of this site is stored on the provider's server in Germany. The IP address is made anonymous immediately after processing and before it is stored. Users may prevent the installation of cookies by setting their browser software accordingly. However, the provider wishes to inform users that they may not be able to make full use of all functions on this website in this case.

Use of social plug-ins

On our website we promote a project by c't, called "Shariff". "Shariff" replaces the typical share-buttons of social networks and thereby protects surfing behavior.

"Shariff" integrates the share buttons of social networks on our website as a graphic containing a link to the appropriate social network. By clicking on the appropriate icon you will be redirected to the services of your network. The Shariff button provides direct contact between the social network and our users only when the visitor actively clicks the 'Share' button. Only then will your data be transferred to the respective social network. If, however, the Shariff button is not clicked, no exchange will be made between you and the social network. For more information about the c't project "Shariff" visit http://www.heise.de/ct/artikel/Shariff-Social-Media-Buttons-mit-Datenschutz-2467514.html

The following social networks are integrated on our website with "Shariff":

Facebook

This website uses social plug-ins ("plug-ins") of the social network facebook.com, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"). If users have their normal place of residence in the European Union, they are offered the services of Facebook by Facebook Ireland Limited, Hanover Reach, 5-7 Hanover Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland. The plug-ins can be recognised by one of the Facebook logos (a white "f" on a blue tile or a "thumbs up" sign), or they are marked with the suffix "Facebook Social Plug-in".

Whenever a user calls up a page on this site containing such a plug-in, his/her browser creates a direct link with the Facebook servers provided the plug-in was activated beforehand by a click. Facebook transmits the content of the plug-in directly to the browser and the browser integrates it in the website. The provider therefore has no influence over the volume of the data which Facebook collects using this plug-in and therefore informs the users in accordance with the provider's level of knowledge:

Through the integration of the plug-in, Facebook receives the information that a user has called up the relevant page of the site. If the user is logged into Facebook, Facebook can assign the visit to the user's Facebook account. If users interact with the plug-ins, for example choosing the Like button or wanting to enter a comment, the relevant information is transmitted from the browser directly to Facebook and saved there. If a user is not a member of Facebook, it is still possible for Facebook to find his/her IP address and store it. According to Facebook, only an anonymised IP address is stored in Germany.

Facebook's data protection statement: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/ contains information on the purpose and extent of data collection, the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, the rights in this respect and setting options for protecting the privacy of users.

If a user is a member of Facebook and does not want Facebook to collect personal data via this site and link it to his/her stored Facebook membership data, the user must log out from Facebook before visiting this site.

It is also possible to block Facebook social plug-ins using add-ons for your browser, for example with "Facebook blocker".

+1 button of Google+

This site uses the "+1″ button of the social network Google Plus which is operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). The button can be recognised by the sign "+1″ on a white or coloured background.

Whenever a user calls up a page on this site containing such a button, the browser creates a direct link with the Google servers provided the button was activated beforehand by a click. Google transmits the content of the "+1" button directly to the browser and the browser integrates it in the website. The provider therefore has no influence over the volume of the data which Google collects using this button. According to Google, no personal data are collected without clicking the button. These data, e.g. the IP address, are only collected and processed with logged-in members.

Google's data protection statement on the "+1" button : http://www.google.com/intl/de/+/policy/+1button.html and the FAQ: http://www.google.com/intl/de/+1/button/ contain information for users on the purpose and extent of data recording, further processing and use of the data by Google, users' related rights and setting methods for protecting their private sphere.

Twitter

This offer uses the buttons of the Twitter service. These buttons are provided by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. They can be recognised by terms such as "Twitter" or "Follow", together with a stylised blue bird. The buttons can be used to share a contribution or a page of this site on Twitter or follow the provider on Twitter.

If a user calls up a page of this website containing such a button, his/her browser creates a direct link with the Twitter servers provided the button was activated beforehand with a click. The content of the Twitter buttons is transmitted by Twitter directly to the user's browser. The provider therefore has no influence over the volume of the data which Twitter collects using this plug-in. Further information in this respect can be found in the data protection statement by Twitter: http://twitter.com/privacy.

Right to information

In response to a written inquiry, the provider will inform users of the website and/or customers about their stored personal data. The inquiry must be sent to the address shown in the legal notice in the website.
